After countless requests from listeners, Dianne recorded her
second solo album, a holiday collection, in 2002. Titled
Tinsel, this CD is sure to become part of your holiday
traditions as it features many favorite melodies of the
season. If you liked her first album Simplicity, you'll go
crazy over Tinsel.
You are sure to recognize many of the familiar holiday
pieces on Tinsel, including "Silent Night,"
"Go Tell It on the Mountain," "A Nutcracker
Dance Suite," "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing,"
"Angels We Have Heard on High,"
"Hallelujah" from Handel's Messiah, "Carol of
the Bells," "Auld Lang Syne," "The Holly
and The Ivy," "Coventry Carol," and others.
More than 55 minutes of all your favorite holiday tunes played
on flute, alto flute, and piccolo with an uplifting
accompaniment of piano, guitar, cello, strings, and more.
But this recording is not your ordinary holiday album!
Before arranging the pieces and recording the album, Dianne
researched holiday music from around the world and fell in
love with many melodies from other countries and cultures.
Tired of hearing the same melodies on every holiday album she
owns and wanting to add some new melodies to her own
traditions, Dianne decided to include several of these
captivating but lesser-known melodies on Tinsel. These
gorgeous melodies include "The Happy Christmas Comes Once
More" from Denmark, "Midwinter" and "'Twas
in the Moon of Wintertime" from England, "Lo, How a
Rose E'er Blooming" from Germany, and "Bring a
Torch, Jeannette, Isabella," from France, along with an
original melody titled "Tinsel," written by Dianne
herself.
Some of the pieces are upbeat and festive, while others are
reflective and peaceful. All are sure to bring you pleasure
and comfort during the most wonderful time of the year. It's
perfect to play as background music during holiday
get-togethers or as mood music in your car while driving to
the mall. One thing is for certain…you will enjoy every
minute of this recording. You will look forward to listening
to it next year when the holidays come around again. In fact,
you may decide to listen to it year round. It's really that
good!
